Deliverance; The action of being rescued or set free. Since the human race became aware of its sin, we have begged the supernatural for deliverance from evil. For myself, and the occupants of the halls that you see in these images, deliverance manifests in a sound, an energy, and a room.
Sharing thirteen years of my upbringing in the grasp of domestic abuse, an unwavering grasp, safely harboured behind the closed doors of family life. My deliverance came in the form of a music that calloused the wounds inflicted by an evil man. A dance of raw catharsis with strangers and friends, unbeknownst to them, yet fully understood.
Angst is considered a dirty word, used in jest to nullify the adolescent experience, rather than a vital method of expression. With these images, I hope to allow the viewer to look upon these young men and women beyond the superficial, beyond face value, a projection of my own experience. Young people gravitating towards a space of extreme aggression yet tribal inclusiveness. What might their eyes have seen? Perhaps nothing, or perhaps everything.
